Are you getting enough Sleep?

A lot of my patients seem to be having problems with getting a good night sleep, and it’s something that needs to be addressed. Sleep is very important to our bodies, and the quality of sleep that we have during the night matters as well. When I talk about quality of sleep one should look for the following issues:
• Feeling just as tired when you wake up as you were when you went to sleep.
• Waking up in the morning with a headache.
If your spouse or loved one notices that while you are sleeping you have:
• Have loud and constant snoring throughout the night
• Pauses in breathing, accompanied with gasping episodes when sleeping

According to the National Healthy Sleep Awareness project about 25 million adults in the U.S. are dealing with obstructive sleep apnea. Now it’s important to keep in mind that not everyone that snores has sleep apnea.  However, if you are having trouble getting a good night’s sleep please inform your doctor about it.
