I suppose it can’t be stressed enough. Learning how to manage stress in our lives is important when it comes to staying healthy. It’s important too because when we feel like the world is on our shoulders due to our work life or home life or all of the above, it triggers the flight or fight response in our bodies. The Flight or fight response puts our body under tremendous amounts of stress. Now if stressful incidents infrequently occur then it probably isn’t a big concern, it’s the constant stress over time that will start to put a lot of wear and tear on a person’s body. The constant stress can manifest diseases such as diabetes, depression, high blood pressure and other auto immune diseases.
It’s important to be mindful of how you feel about where your life is going and what you can do to improve your current situation. If the stress at work is getting to you then how can you improve that situation? If your home life isn’t what it should be what can be done to change that? I know I might sound like I am oversimplifying all this, but if one is interested in reducing the stress then it has to look at all aspects of what may be the cause of their stress. What is your current diet? How much do you exercise? What if your family background when it comes to diabetes and heart disease? All of these factors must also be considered to see how at risk you are for developing these illnesses.
