[dropcap]O[/dropcap]kay, so there is a 5 hour energy drink and back in the day there used to be something called 8 minute abs? What about a product called 15 minute memory? All kidding aside, I don’t recommend any products like these for ways to manage your health. I just wish something could help me remember names at a party.
If there was something that could help me remember a persons’ name that I had a great conversation with at a particular party back in January. According to a study if I needed to remember names at a party I should have had caffeine 24 hours in advance to improve my chances of remembering his name.
This particular study was published in the Natural Neuroscience Journal. In the study they found that people who had been given caffeine pills had better recall. The participants in this study ranged from ages 18-30 and were shown photos of items that would be classified as indoor or outdoor items. Half of the participants were given a caffeine pill while the other half were given a sugar pill. On the first day of the study the participants were shown indoor and outdoor pictures. On the next day the subjects were shown pictures that were either the same as .shown on day 1 or slightly different. The subjects were asked to decipher which images the ones they had seen on day 1.
The results revealed that participants who were taking the caffeine pills were better at determining pictures shown to them on day 1 versus the people the people eating the sugar pill.
Would it be helpful to take a cup coffee and study for say a quiz you might have to take tomorrow? I really couldn’t say except it would hurt to give it a try. Now it’s important to remember that too much caffeine is not good for sleep and can make a person jittery or nervous. Something to keep in mind if you are in sales or have to make a presentation to a group of people. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
